During the Civil War, the corner of East 10th Street was home to a large stone fort that protected Chattanooga. Decades later German immigrant L.A. Hirtzfiled was commissioned to design a 16-bed hotel. The Colonial Hotel opened in 1909 and later became the Stone Fort Inn, harkening back to its historical past.
Today the hotel has again been re-imagined as the Dwell Hotel. Coast 2 Coast was proud to capture the newly renovated space with a Go 360 Interactive tour. With a simple Google search, guests can essentially “walk-through” the mid-century modern reinterpretation of the space with bold colors, a lively touch of old Hollywood glam, and a beautifully maintained foundation of historic charm. Owner Seika Ojanpera describes the decor as, “Almost an art piece; a little gallery in each room.” Visitors can virtually experience the theme each room has to offer – the matching wallpaper in the Bee and Argyle rooms, the photos of the Southern California desert resort town in Palm Springs Room. The boutique hotel features furnishings from the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s, including couches, a tiki bar, and even a coin-operated Japanese massage chair. The Dwell Hotel also has a new bar, Matilda Midnight, just inside the front door that’s open daily from 10 a.m. until midnight to serve tapas, beer, wine, and cocktails. You’ll also find five-star fare at Terra Mae, which features global cuisine in the heart of downtown Chattanooga.
To best tell this rich brand story Coast 2 Coast created a Go 360 Interactive Tour. The “Explore” package allows guests to walk through the hotel space straight from Google Maps. This integrated approach enabled the Dwell Hotel to compliment the style of the website and showcase the entirety of the remarkable establishment.
